Below is the email from a native church planter that spurred GCRI to present this need to potential donors and who responded most generously.
"I badly need funds for well. Many areas that I cover need clean water. All my relatives (Christian) are prohibited to use the public water, just because they are our family members. (The government will not provide water for believers. When water is brought to a community or village or suburbs, the government will either by-pass the Christian houses or tell the village, 'We cannot give you water as long as Christians live among you. If you want water, get rid of Christians.') Each well that I provide to them average cost $300 only and I need hundreds of them or as much as you can give."
Another email from a native missionary in Vietnam regarding wells:
"This is one of the key areas of expansion for our ministry. The cost per well is approximately $300.00 We contract out with local people to dig the wells, many times Christians. We keep it simple, rather than making exotic wells. They have a manual hand pump handle with a cement base. We have done this in many of the areas where Christians are denied use of public wells. The need is almost unlimited, as we have hundreds of selected areas where we can dig wells right now."
